Comics

Postby legion88 on Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:18 pm

Hey all. I have noticed recently that I have been geeking out on comics again. This is the first time in years that I have bought any. Was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for reading. I am mainly looking for more graphic novel variety, and not monthly stories. Comics more collected like Watchmen or even for the Spider-man fans, I picked up Kraven's Last Hunt, with all the books collected together.

Talk to Ben. He actually runs his own online comic store, http://www.ninjapirategear.com. I don't know what his collection looks like right now, but if he doesn't have it, I'm sure he'd point you in the right direction.
Chael was framed! He says so on his twitter page!

I actually have a pretty good amount of graphic novels and collected editions. Anything that you're looking for, I can probably get for cheap. John, the drummer from System of a Down, he had a huge warehouse full of comics and he was operating his own store and it went out of business. So he did a fire sale, and my friend Brett bought enough of his comics to fill FOUR SEMIS and send them from Vegas all the way back to Richmond, Va. He said he's got 80,000 graphic novels, and I'm going down in 2 weeks to check out his stuff and try to buy some wholesale off him. Let me know what you're looking for and I can get it for you.

Other than that, right now I've got just about everything Avengers and Spider-Man from the past 30+ years. I have a good amount of Captain America, Hulk, Batman, X-Men, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Legion of Superheroes, Teen Titans, etc. but I've really been focusing on Spider-Man lately and I just have a ton of it. You can check out the website, but I'm really focusing on conventions right now, so I haven't been updating the inventory on the site.

Oh, I also have a shitload of Disney and Archie stuff, I don't know if you're interested in it, but I've got the comics, digests, hardcovers, art books, and more as far as kid stuff. Where do you live? If you're close maybe you can make it out to a convention and check my books out. As of right now, this year I plan to go to: DC (Maryland and Virginia shows outside of DC), NYC, Baltimore, Richmond, Philadelphia, Salem Virginia, Allentown Pa, Raleigh NC, and next year I'm going to do big shows in Chicago, Detroit, Orlando, Charlotte, Boston, and I'm going to try to make it to San Diego.

I actually live in Philadelphia so I may be able to make that one, depending on when it is. Like is said though the main things I am looking for are longer books. I don't really have the desire or space to begin collecting monthly as I did when I was a teen ya know. But I am interested in collections, for instance I bought the entire Kraven's last hunt story in one book and read that. Also if you could give me any suggestions on ones I could buy that would be great. I am mostly into the main stream super hero comics. But would check others out if it is suggested.

Dude, I do a show almost every month in Philly. I'll be back September 26th. He's not putting one on in August because I don't think he wants to compete with the big Baltimore show. If I don't have what you are looking for, somebody probably will at the show. If it's not too much of a haul for you, you should come to the Baltimore Comic-Con on the 28th and 29th of August, it's going to be huge, they hold it at the Baltimore Convention Center, you will be able to find absolutely any book you are looking for. There will be dealers with the collected edition books lined up for $5 apiece. It's also just an awesome event to be at if you like comics.
